Aston Villa were outclassed in a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final on Wednesday.

The Villans missed out on a chance to win their second-ever Super Cup trophy after their triumph back in the 1982-83 season, falling to defeat at the Red Bull Arena in Austria.

Unai Emery's side went 1-0 down in the 20th minute after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's opener, wrong-footing Marco Bizot for the goal.

Villa then had plenty of chances to level the match before the break, as Brian Madjo got on the end of a John McGinn cross to fire into the roof of the net for the equaliser.

Desire Doue then ran in behind Villa's defence to curl in PSG's winning goal, which was confirmed after a quick VAR check.

Though Villa are set to fly back to B6 empty-handed, Emery will have food for thought from the game.

Madjo was a nuisance for PSG's defence the whole match, and took the most shots in the game with six.

The 17-year-old also had eight touches in the opposition's box, and created two chances for his teammates, finishing the match with a 7.6 FotMob rating.

He broke history with his goal by becoming the youngest-ever player to score in the UEFA Super Cup final, surpassing Patrick Kluivert to snatch the record.

Though Madjo got himself on the scoresheet for another time this pre-season, he also missed three big chances, hitting the woodwork too.

The teenager had a 17 per cent shot accuracy, but the biggest takeaway from his 73-minute performance was how many times he got himself involved.

Madjo is clearly the future and is only just getting started under Emery at Villa; a scary prospect for Premier League rivals.
