Aston Villa have named their starting XI to face Brentford on Saturday.

The international break is finally over as football returns to Villa Park.

It is looking like being anything but an easy return as the Bees make the trip from the capital.

Keith Andrews holds a stellar record against Unai Emery and will be keen to maintain that in B6.

The Villans now have to do their utmost to secure three points after their 3-2 win away to Tottenham last time out.

Villa have now named their starting XI to face Brentford as questions will be raised surrounding John McGinn.

Who is starting for Aston Villa vs Brentford?

There was so much positivity to take from the win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the break.

Scoring three and only conceding to late consolation goals went down well with the travelling fans.

With that in mind, it is no surprise that Emery has named a largely familiar feeling side.

Zion Suzuki has kept his place after five to saves against Tottenham and is set to be joined by Matty Cash, Victor Lindelof, Tyrone Mings and Matteo Ruggeri ahead of him.

The base of midfield remains intact as Boubacar Kamara and Joao Gomes keep their places.

Johan Manzambi also remains in place after his goal and assist on his first start away to Tottenham.

The same can be said about Nicolas Jackson, while Emi Buendia and McGinn also keep their places.

It is a positive looking lineup, but it does ask questions of McGinn and his fitness.

Should John McGinn be starting for Aston Villa?

The extended international break saw most countries play four times in three weeks.

That is a sizable workload and there will have been an expectation that no players would feature across almost every single minute.

Despite that, McGinn was handed four consecutive starts for Scotland and was only spared three minutes at the end of the fourth.

That clocks up to 357 minutes in three weeks, with his latest against Slovenia pointing towards an element of tiredness.

The 31-year-old managed just one shot that wasn't blocked and it came from near enough the halfway line.

He also failed in one dribble while maintaining a zero per cent success rate in both crosses and long balls.

Throw in the fact that he lost three duels and failed to put up a single block, clearance or interception, it's clear to see that he wasn't at his best.

That has annoyed Emery and that has been made clear.
