Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers didn't cover himself in glory for England against France on Saturday.

The Three Lions ran out 6-4 winners in the World Cup's bronze medal match against Les Bleus in Miami.

England were 4-0 up at the break, with Villa defender Ezri Konsa on target with a headed goal from a corner.

Didier Deschamps' men fought back after the break, but Bukayo Saka completed a hat-trick and Jude Bellingham scored a lovely individual goal to seal third-place at the tournament.

Morgan Rogers played the entirety of the game on the day it was reported Villa have accepted a £117million bid from Chelsea for his services.

And the 23-year-old did not have his greatest game in an England shirt, as the Three Lions rounded out their tournament.

What did the media say about Morgan Rogers' performance in England versus France?

Villa News has looked at who Villa could look to replace Rogers after the agreement with Chelsea was reached.

Following news of that story, Rogers was selected to feature against France.

But, while several of his team-mates signed off from the tournament in style, Rogers did little to put his own stamp on the game.

The media in England reacted to his performance, and the Evening Standard scored him a 6/10.

Justifying their score, they wrote: "Took up some good positions and was brave in carrying the ball forward. But it didn’t quite happen for the soon-to-be Chelsea man."

The Mirror was a bit kinder, mind, giving him a 7/10 and opining: "On the brink of a move to Chelsea, this was a good audition in the middle. Strong and lively."

But the Daily Mail agree with the Evening Standard in scoring Rogers a 6/10.

The stats behind Morgan Rogers' display in England vs France

Unai Emery will be bitterly disappointed to see Rogers departing Villa Park, especially having seen Youri Tielemans join Manchester United.

He will never take pleasure in seeing a departing player not have their best performance, but there may well have been a wry smile bordering on rueful.

Rogers was relatively low key in the game, making three key passes but finishing with an expected assists rating of just 0.03.

He failed to put in any crosses, and though he had a 90 per cent pass success rate overall, this dropped to 83 per cent in the opposition half.

Moreover, he managed just one shot in the whole game, which ended up being blocked and was worth just 0.07 xG.

He did complete two of his three attempted dribbles, and had 22 carries, gaining 70.7 metres in total.

However, Rogers did also lose possession on seven occasions in what was certainly a low-key outing by his own high standards.
