The Nicolas Jackson omen that gives Aston Villa hope vs Arsenal

Nicolas Jackson may be in line for his Aston Villa debut against Arsenal.

The Senegalese international is now a Villa player, and with few options down the centre for Unai Emery, he will likely be thrown straight in.

Emery and his side host the Premier League champions at Villa Park at 8pm on Monday night.

The B6 outfit were extremely poor against Brighton, and they will need to remedy that performance with one that can get the Villa Park crowd on their feet.

But August is never typically the best month for Villa and that is shown in their last six results.

However, Jackson does bring a good omen with him to remedy that.

As stated previously, Villa do not take well to the month of August, particularly in front of goal.

Villa have failed to net a goal in five of their last six games in this month.

Now, with their game against Arsenal falling on the last day, they could end up seeing that record extend.

However, Jackson is a player who tends to score his first goal of the season quite early on.

And Villa will be delighted he has been registered in time to feature.

According to Transfermarkt, Jackson has scored in August in his last three season that he has featured in a league game in that month.

He scored on matchday one for Villarreal in 2022-2023, and then followed that up with a goal on matchday three in 2023-2024 for Chelsea and on matchday two in 2024-2025 for the Premier League side as well.

Last summer, Jackson was surplus to requirements and did not actually make a league appearance until September for Bayern Munich.

However, hopefully he can now make it four August's in a row where he has played a game and scored.

Aston Villa certainly need this positive omen ahead of facing the Premier League's top side.

Will Leon Goretzka also start for Aston Villa?

Fellow new boy Leon Goretzka may also be in line to start as well.

Joao Gomes' red card leaves a space in the midfield for Emery to select the German midfielder.

However, the Spaniard is not well-known for chucking new signings into the mix immediately, as shown by Zion Suzuki's place on the bench versus Brighton.

But this may be an emergency situation for the veteran midfielder to make his debut.
