Steven Gerrard disagrees completely with what Unai Emery has said at Aston Villa

Unai Emery was delighted as Aston Villa picked up their first Premier League victory of the season.

The Villans travelled to Tottenham on Saturday, and left a happy hunting ground with yet another three points.

Johan Manzambi, Nicolas Jackson and Emi Buendia all scored to seal a memorable 3-2 victory in North London.

It leaves Tottenham rooted in the Premier League relegation zone, with several similarities to last season.

Villa also started last year slowly, but Emery turned it around to finish in the top four, and win the Europa League.

Despite his masterstrokes, Steven Gerrard doesn't agree with his latest take.

What did Unai Emery say about Tottenham?

Spurs were the huge spenders in the Premier League this summer.

While the likes of Villa are held back by SCR and PSR, Tottenham spent over £300million despite finishing 17th in two seasons in a row.

Before the win in North London on Saturday, Emery suggested that Spurs could still finish in the top four despite their winless start.

Speaking on TNT Sports after the game, Gerrard hit back, saying: "Not on the evidence of today.

"I have to disagree, and I respect him a lot.

"I think he's a top coach, but I think he's playing games to put a bit of pressure on Spurs."

Where will Aston Villa finish?

Getting that first win is always important, and Emery has finally got that under his belt after another slow start.

There was a clear reason for that, though.

New signings have come in late, some injured and the academy has had to be used.

While George Hemmings has looked bright, he isn't going to be the player to step forward and win you points alone.

You saw how someone like Manzambi can do that, making his first start since signing from Freiburg to replace Morgan Rogers.

Going into the extended international break with a win under their belts will be perfect, and Emery will know that.

While many go away with their countries, they'll do so with a spring in their steps and that translates back to Villa Park.

As for Tottenham, they'll be nowhere near Villa based on that display.
