Ibrahim Mbaye among seven Aston Villa players who have a point to prove in the international break

Aston Villa will see seven first-team stars jet off for international duty for the September and October break.

The final game before three weeks away from domestic action ended in perfect fashion.

There was general fear that the atmosphere around B6 could become somewhat toxic should the Villans have lost to Tottenham.

The same could be said for both sides, but yet another North London win for Unai Emery made sure his side can feel positive.

A break has arguably come at a frustrating time, but will give the Spaniard chance to work with his squad before a return to Premier League football.

Who has been called up for international break at Aston Villa?

Since the introduction of Emery, B6 has become a hub for talents to become part of their national teams.

That saw the likes of Ezri Konsa and Morgan Rogers grow into England stars in their days wearing claret and blue.

Things have changed now with that duo, Emi Martinez, Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne and Ollie Watkins all out the door.

That has limited the international exits from Bodymoor Heath, although fresh faces have replaced them.

There are still some familiar faces departing with John McGinn linking up with Scotland, Victor Lindelof with Sweden and Matty Cash with Poland.

Summer signings like Zion Suzuki and Johan Manzambi will also feature for their countries during the break with Japan and Switzerland respectively.

Senegal will host the most Villa stars with both Nicolas Jackson and Ibrahim Mbaye set to feature under Patrick Vieira.

The latter hasn't truly been given a chance to show his best under Emery, so has a chance to show what he's got on the international stage.

Why Ibrahim Mbaye has a point to prove

Alongside Manzambi, the 18-year-old was arguably the most exciting signing of the summer in B6.

The teenager had been a semi-regular for Paris Saint-Germain under Luis Enrique despite their raft of quality in forward areas.

Mbaye is now applying his trade in claret and blue, but has been limited to just three appearances so far.

He has done well in those, with his only start against Coventry City catching the eye.

The winger grabbed an assist while also creating the most chances on the pitch with four.

It may be a source of frustration that he only completed 20 per cent of his dribble attempts, but he did try five times as he showed his willingness to attack a full-back.

Mbaye did win three duels and was fouled twice, so there are plenty of positives to take.

He now has a chance to prove what he's all about on the international stage having scored four in 15 appearances for Senegal.

His latest came at the World Cup against France and he'll be hoping to replicate that in upcoming meetings with Mozambique, Ethiopia and Comoros.

If the wide man can do that, it may give Emery little choice but to throw him in at Premier League level.
