Bryan King has urged Aston Villa to ensure Kevin Zenón is ready for life in England should they sign the Boca Juniors ace in January.

The ex-Villa scout believes it is important for the 23-year-old to understand English ahead of a potential move to the Premier League.

However, King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - feels a lot of preparation will be needed ahead of a potential transfer.

“These moves can sometimes be a gamble," King said.

“If Villa are going to buy this player, they should ensure that he is already learning English.

“Making sure he can understand the language and is ready to come to England is a small price to pay.

“It is important to get the scouting right in South America. However, it is also important to bring a player into an environment he is going to be happy with. A lot of deals are done too casually, and the player ends up unsettled.

“If Villa know they’re after this young player, get him prepared for the new culture."

Aston Villa eyeing January move for Kevin Zenón in January?

Signing a player from South America is always a gamble. There have been a lot of examples of players who have struggled to make the move to Europe.

However, there have also been a lot of examples of players who have struggled to make the transition. As a result, you don't quite know what you're going to get.

Therefore, Villa and Unai Emery must do anything they can to maximise the chances of the transfer succeeding.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not Villa will make a move for the player at all.

There are a lot of talented young players already at Villa Park. Therefore, with efforts being made to keep those already at the club (via The Athletic, 31 October) Villa might feel as though there isn't any space for another.
