Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos has revealed on social media that he isn't injured despite what Unai Emery said in his press conference on Tuesday.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Villa Park this winter, with Fenerbahce showing the strongest interest so far [Loic Tanzi].

While this transfer saga has bubbled under the surface, the 31-year-old has been absent through injury for the Villans, missing the last two matches.

This spell on the sidelines looked set to continue after Emery spoke in his press conference on 14 January, confirming Carlos "is still carrying a small injury", as shared via AstonForza on Instagram (14 January).

However, publicly replying to this post, Carlos accompanied a shrugging emoji with a comment that said: "I'm not injured."

Diego Carlos hits out at Unai Emery lie at Aston Villa

Regardless of potential transfer links away from B6, it isn't a good look to freeze a player out if they opt against making a move away.

It is even more embarrassing when a player reaches out to supporters on social media to suggest that Emery is effectively lying about his current absence.

If Carlos' comment is true, the Villans need to ask questions about what is going on behind the scenes at Bodymoor Heath and why he has made this public.
