While the Senegal international was on the bench at the MKM Stadium, he didn't come on as a substitute, but Emery could opt to give him his Villa debut at the Jan Breydel Stadium.

Gomes hasn't been seen since being sent off against Brighton and Hove Albion in the opening Premier League game of the season.

The Brazilian midfielder still has a one-game suspension to serve domestically, but will be available for the European fixture and could potentially make his Champions League debut against Brugge.

Gomes may be chosen over Ross Barkley to partner Boubacar Kamara in the engine room on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old could now be given the responsibility on the left-wing in Belgium as Emery looks to turn things around at the B6 club.
