Aston Villa player ratings vs Hull City: Emi Buendia has shocker as he lets 8/10 teammate down

Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw against Hull City on Saturday evening.

Unai Emery's side were in search of their first points of the 2026-2027 campaign.

Based on the first-half performance, it looked like Villa were the team that could pull off a win if one side were to be the victor.

But Hull did still have the threat on the counter-attack and frustrated the Villans in the second half.

In the end, Emery will not be pleased with the overall display of his side.

Particularly in the forward department with Villa proving to be wasteful.

Emi Buendia proves wasteful against Hull City

Emi Buendia had an afternoon to forget against Hull City.

The Argentine was looking to exploit those central areas just in behind Nicolas Jackson, but nothing was coming off for the attacker.

In truth, a lot of that came down to the number 10's poor final ball. As per FotMob, Buendia had a 70 per cent passing accuracy misplacing 10 out of 33 attempted.

He also failed to create a single chance for his teammates.

Additionally, he had one of the better chances of the game, and managed to balloon a big chance, one which was given an xG of 0.4 over the bar.

Ultimately, Emery would respond to Buendia's display by pulling him out of the game with 75 minutes played.

Boubacar Kamara let down by Aston Villa teammates

Boubacar Kamara did his best to keep play ticking, and to break up play in the middle of the pitch.

The Frenchman was one of Villa's best players on the pitch with him always looking to get on the ball.

As per FotMob, no other player took more touches than Kamara with 109.

Meanwhile, he maintained a 92 per cent passing accuracy, including completing three out of four long passes.

Furthemore, he made six recoveries, the most of any outfield player on the pitch.

While he was more proactive than anyone else, completing 15 passes into the final third, four more than the next Aston Villa player in Victor Lindelof (11).

Kamara's performance certainly deserved more than just the one point.
