Aston Villa and Brentford played out a back-and-forth draw on Saturday.

The Villans didn't start particularly well after three weeks away for international break.

Yehor Yarmoliuk netted the opener after just 10 minutes as his powerful effort blasted past Zion Suzuki.

It was just 90 seconds later when Nicolas Jackson made it 1-1 in the last goalmouth action until John McGinn scored 65 minutes later.

Villa's lead only lasted two minutes before Kristoffer Ajer scored to make it 2-2 as the points were shared.

It was an up-and-down day for both sides at Villa Park as we now assess the performance of Unai Emery's men.

Johan Manzambi already at home at Aston Villa

There has been so much excitement surrounding Johan Manzambi, and there is good reason for it.

The Switzerland international looks comfortable in the Premier League and it is certainly a positive to not be bullied by a physical Brentford side.

The 20-year-old proved that by taking the most touches in the opposition box of anyone on the pitch with eight while creating three chances.

He also clocked up seven shots before putting up four defensive actions and four duel wins.

That has certainly got everyone talking in B6 as he caught the eye once again.

Tyrone Mings not good enough vs Brentford

It is 2026 and we are still watching Tyrone Mings starting for Aston Villa.

That feels as if there hasn't been enough progression in that position, and it showed against the Bees.

Mings was often caught out or showed a lapse in concentration that could have cost his side.

His error led to Brentford's opener as Igor Thiago caught him on the ball.

Mings completed just 17 per cent of his six attempted long balls while also misplacing 11 passes.

The issues are further summed up by the defender then losing his only ground duel of the day.

It just doesn't feel as though Mings is good enough for where Villa want to be right now.
