Aston Villa are getting value despite Unai Emery’s reported eight-figure salary
Aston Villa are reportedly paying Unai Emery an eight-figure salary, showing how valuable he is to the football club.
Villa Park has seen many bright days during the reign of Emery, and there will hopefully be more still to come.
The Spaniard arrived in the West Midlands back in October 2022 to replace Steven Gerrard, and recorded a seventh-placed finish in that 2021-22 Premier League campaign.
Since then, Villa have finished fourth and sixth, and with a top-five place and Champions League football looking very likely, the team have never failed to qualify for European football under his watch.
As such, the £5.2million buyout fee that Aston Villa paid to Villarreal for his services is a financial investment that remains one of the Villans’ best in recent years.

How much is Unai Emery reportedly earning at Aston Villa?
Emery could leave Aston Villa this summer, however, with the 54-year-old being linked with the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid respectively.
Having managed and enjoyed success in France, Spain and England as well as a brief stint in Russia with Spartak Moscow, Emery is one of European football’s most experienced and widely-respected managers.

However, it also appears that he’s one of the most well-compensated gaffers around as well.
In a report from the Daily Mail this week, it’s claimed that Emery earns around £12m per year as Aston Villa boss, with three more years left on his contract.
If correct, that works out to a weekly wage of just over £230,000, and would place him among the most expensive managers in world football.
Why Emery is worth reported £12m annual salary
For a club like Aston Villa, who have been enduring a well-documented struggle with staying in the financial good books regarding PSR and UEFA in recent years, paying their manager £12m per year is an awfully large expense.
Considerable amounts of money could be saved here, but Emery is no average manager. He’s an elite coach, and is seemingly being compensated like one too.
His ability to improve players and inflate transfer values has seen Villa turn some big profits in recent years, and with more sure to come, Emery’s quality of coaching certainly more than repays his salary in this regard.

On top of that, he’s turned Villa into a perennial European force, and that’s also seen the football club’s coffers grow due to increased prize money and new revenue streams from playing on the continent.
So, he may well be expensive, Emery is worth his weight in gold to Aston Villa, and with the money that his work helps bring in, he’s a luxury worth having.
