Aston Villa set to miss out on 71-year first as supercomputer predicts result vs Man United
Aston Villa will be desperate to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Villa lost their last Premier League match 4-1 to Chelsea at Villa Park, and they desperately need to turn the corner when they take on another top-four rival in Michael Carrick’s side.
Hopefully, Unai Emery‘s side can start to perform in the Premier League, and their visit to third-placed Man United could have huge ramifications in the race to qualify for the Champions League.
The Red Devils have been in excellent form since Carrick took over, and it’s no surprise whatsoever that they are the favourites to win at Old Trafford.

Man United heavy favourites to beat Aston Villa
Following their 2-1 win in December, Villa are looking to complete the league double over Manchester United for the first time since 1954-55.
In the reverse fixture, Morgan Rogers stole the show, scoring a magnificent brace in B6.
According to Opta‘s supercomputer, Emery’s side will suffer another defeat on the road, and their hopes of achieving a league double for the first time in 71 years will be over.
- Man United have been given a 46.3 per cent chance of claiming all three points
- Aston Villa have a 27.1 per cent chance of securing a victory
- A draw has been given a 26.6 per cent probability of occurring
Manchester United have lost just two of their last 37 home league games against the Villans, going down 1-0 both times in December 2009 and September 2021.
They have also kept 30 clean sheets against Villa in the Premier League, with only Arsenal keeping more against a single opponent in the competition (31 versus Newcastle United).
Of course, it won’t be easy, but Emery’s side definitely have the quality to pull off a shock result, even if their past history against Man United isn’t the best.
But without some of their star players, Villa have found it hard to cope with their intense schedule.

Aston Villa’s injury woes have been made clear in new reveal
Although John McGinn is now back from injury, Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans are still sidelined for the foreseeable future.
In the six Premier League games this season in which none of Kamara, McGinn or Tielemans have started for Aston Villa, Emery’s side have won just once (D2 L3).
They’ve averaged 0.8 points per game in that time, but by contrast, the Villans have won seven of 10 league matches in which all three have started in 2025-26, averaging 2.3 points per game.

Villa have been desperately unlucky this campaign, and fans are still wondering what they could have achieved with their midfielders fit in 2026.
Looking at the Man United game, Kamara will especially be missed as Bruno Fernandes poses a lethal threat on the ball.
And the Villans will have to do whatever it takes to stop the Portuguese midfielder without some of their best players.
