Every advantage Aston Villa hold as NSWE look to capitalise on Lucas Bergvall situation
Aston Villa are reportedly looking to take advantage of Tottenham’s ongoing crisis in an attempt to sign Lucas Bergvall.
NSWE are limited to what they can spend again this summer, unless they are to sell some of their top players to ease PSR concerns.
Roberto Olabe will work closely with other internal figures to outline a sustainable approach this summer to aid Unai Emery ahead of what will be another crucial season for the Villans.
Bergvall is one player that Villa have an advantage in signing, but they do face competition from Chelsea and others for his signature.
Aston Villa plan to “test resolve” for Tottenham’s young star, according to the Daily Mail on Wednesday, and Villa Park could be a perfect place for the midfielder to come to.
Every advantage Aston Villa have for Lucas Bergvall
Tottenham are currently facing a threat of Premier League relegation, and even if Igor Tudor does keep the Lilywhites up, it doesn’t mean their best players will stay.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have already been suggested as two who are seeking an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, which highlights how Villa can make a steal for Bergvall.
- Tottenham are 16th in the Premier League
- They are one point off the relegation zone
The Villans are progressing well in the Europa League, and winning the trophy could see major financial benefits come back to B6.
Tottenham may not be in a position to demand as much as they’d like for Bergvall, meaning NSWE could have the required funds available to sign the Swede.
Emery is a huge pulling factor for any Premier League player, and if Villa can also secure Champions League football, they’d surely be the most attractive club for the 18-year-old to come to.

As highlighted by Sofascore in the graphic above, Bergvall averages a 70 per cent dribble success rate, something which Emery highly values in midfielders.
His average 6.63 rating has only been dragged down by Tottenham’s overall performances, as the teenager has been one of the very few bright sparks.

All signs pointing towards Douglas Luiz leaving Aston Villa a second time
Villa resigned B6 fan favourite Douglas Luiz in the winter window, and hold a buy option to make the Juventus man’s return permanent.
The Villa Park hero was at the top of his game in a Villa shirt just under two years ago, but questions over whether his best days are behind him have been raised.

The Villans need to look to the future, and with Luiz not getting any younger, the links to Bergvall make complete sense.
The Tottenham star is just one of a few midfielders who have been linked with a move to Villa this summer, which may highlight that NSWE are not prepared to keep Luiz beyond this campaign.
