Aston Villa have clear opportunity for £85m Morgan Rogers call after Julian Brandt latest

Aston Villa have a major opportunity to rekindle their interest in Julian Brandt this summer.

This comes after news that the attacking midfielder is set to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer as a free agent, with Villa’s previous interest well-documented.

One of the main areas that the Villans have suffered in this season has been chance creation, and Unai Emery is looking for solutions to secure a top-four Premier League finish.

Villa Park has seen success this campaign, but a lack of depth in quality is what’s holding them back from making huge strides, and NSWE will know that it’s all down to financial constraints.

With a clear opportunity to sign Brandt now present, these issues could be resolved, but it could come at the expense of Morgan Rogers.

NSWE could make £85m profit on Morgan Rogers

The deal that saw Rogers come to Villa Park was a package deal to Middlesbrough that had the potential to reach £15million should certain clauses be met.

Boro do hold a sell-on clause in the region of 20 per cent, but that wouldn’t change what the Villans could benefit from the Englishman’s potential sale.

There has been £100m interest in Rogers, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United all said to be monitoring the Aston Villa star.

It’s previously been suggested that, due to Villa’s off-field financial issues, they may have to sell their prized asset to ease PSR issues.

Roberto Olabe now has a top-quality replacement that could come to B6 in Brandt, all while the Villans could make an £85m PSR gain over these potential transfer moves.

Aston Villa fans who doubt Julian Brandt, look at these stats

Rogers’ influence for Villa has been questioned in patches this season. He was unable to have much of an impact at the start of the term, but every other Villa player was also struggling.

But then, as Emery’s side hit top form, Rogers surged into his best version, which now seems to have disappeared again along with Villa’s recent struggles.

Brandt, on the other hand, has remained consistent throughout this campaign for Borussia Dortmund, and though playing in an arguably lesser division, his numbers can’t be ignored.

As seen in the Sofascore graphic above, the German international averages a 6.97 rating in all competitions and has 13 goal contributions combined.

Villa would most likely rather keep Rogers if they could, but if finances are too much of an issue, Brandt could be a solid replacement.
