Jadon Sancho branded ‘unprofessional’ after unseen Aston Villa moment vs Chelsea – Exclusive

Jadon Sancho has come under massive scrutiny after Aston Villa lost to Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Englishman was a second-half substitute against the Blues as he failed to make much of an impact in a 4-1 defeat at Villa Park.

There was an initial surprise when Unai Emery decided against starting the winger, with Leon Bailey and Emi Buendia preferred once again.

That decision had appeared to pay off when the Jamaica international grabbed an assist, but his performance went steeply downhill after that.

The B6 faithful were pleased to see Sancho get a start, but his immediate actions on the pitch haven’t gone down well.

Jadon Sancho used Aston Villa defeat as social opportunity

The 25-year-old has had an underwhelming spell in claret and blue, having failed to score in the Premier League this campaign.

That didn’t look like changing as he appeared more concentrated on catching up with his former teammates rather than making an impact.

Emery brought the wide man on with 63 minutes on the clock, and his first port of call was to run to the left wing to have a chat with Chelsea goalscorer Cole Palmer.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Sancho then had a hug and a long discussion with Reece James, just seconds after the full-time whistle was sounded at Villa Park.

That hasn’t gone down with former Villa scout Bryan King, who has slammed the winger for his actions on such a dismal night in B6.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “I thought it was very unprofessional, to be honest.

“The only explanation is that he forgot what colour shirt he had on.

“Saying hello to Cole Palmer when you come on as a substitute? He could have done that before the game if it was that important.

“It’s even worse because Villa were losing.

“It doesn’t matter who your friends are; you don’t do that until after the game.

“If you want to be with them and don’t want to be at Villa, why are you there? It’s just very unprofessional.

“I wouldn’t have thought it would go down well with the staff or the rest of the players.

“It isn’t a good sign and raises questions of where he will go at the end of the season.”

Sancho had little impact vs Chelsea

The Manchester United loanee was afforded 27 minutes off the bench against his old side, but didn’t make it count.

His 33 per cent cross accuracy sums his game up as he got down the left multiple times and struggled from there onwards.

He also lost two duels and failed to chip in with a single defensive action despite Chelsea having the majority of the ball.

There was little reason for Emery to be impressed with his showing, especially as he just used his time to hug some former colleagues.

It was strange behaviour from Sancho on a night where Villa lost 4-1, and scrutiny is always going to be massive.
