Aston Villa eye hotshot Jacobo Ramon in summer heist – here’s who he could replace for Unai Emery
Aston Villa are interested in inquiring about the services of Como centre-back Jacobo Ramon in an attempt at a possible summer transfer.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Villans are said to be focused on improving their defence in the summer, and the Spaniard fits the profile of what Unai Emery is looking for.
Roberto Olabe may have to put together a persuasive package for the 21-year-old, who is also said to be drawing interest from fellow Premier League side Newcastle United.
Real Madrid sold the young defender to Como in the summer, and are considering triggering their buy-back clause, as Villa seem to be keen on monitoring the situation.
This is who Jacobo Ramon could replace at Aston Villa
There has been talk of Pau Torres leaving Aston Villa for Barcelona in recent weeks, but the Villans should be doing everything they can to keep hold of the centre-back
That’s been made even more evident by recent defensive displays, as there are players who Ramon could be a clear upgrade on this summer.
Tyrone Mings is on the decline and if Villa are wanting to progress into a European powerhouse, then they need to look at upgrading him this summer.
Not only that, but Ezri Konsa has had questions asked of him despite his previous Villa Park Heroics.

The Englishman was particularly poor in Villa’s recent 4-1 loss to Chelsea on Wednesday, and as highlighted by Sofascore in the graphic above, a 6.3 rating may be telling of where his career trajectory is headed.

How has Ramon performed this season?
Given that Real Madrid is considering bringing Ramon back to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, it’s clear to see that his performances have impressed.
But there isn’t too much of a need for the Villans to panic if it does come down to them or Madrid, because Emery can offer Ramon the luxury of game time, which wouldn’t be guaranteed at his former side.
| Played | 24 |
| Tackles per game | 1.8 |
| Team of the Week | 4 |
| Average rating | 7.25 |
As highlighted by Sofascore, the centre-halves’ average rating is 7.25, which is reflective of his four Team of the Week inclusions in the Serie A this campaign.
At 21, Ramon has a high ceiling for growth, as his Real Madrid background proves his potential has no limit, when looking at his displays from this season.
Olabe and Co. need to do what they can to pry him to Villa Park.
