Ezri Konsa still has questions to answer at Aston Villa as decision made on fine after Wolves fury
Ezri Konsa didn’t paint himself in a good light after Aston Villa lost to Wolves on Friday.
The England international had to be held back from the away fans at Molineux as they vented their frustrations towards the players.
Who can blame them? It was a terrible performance, which has rightly been described as a disgrace by many supporters in B6.
It is unclear what was said to the defender, but that shouldn’t totally excuse his actions and the way he acted on the pitch in the Black Country.
Unai Emery and Co. have now decided on a fair response to Konsa’s antics, but it arguably raises more questions than it answers.
Ezri Konsa avoids fine after Wolves fiasco
The 28-year-old has been consistently excellent for the Villans over the years and has earned himself the vice captaincy.
He replaced Emi Martinez in that role for the current campaign after the Argentine was involved in the transfer antics of the summer.
That felt like a no-brainer based on the centre-back’s longevity and true quality, especially since the introduction of Emery.

That shouldn’t mean he’s void of any criticism, especially after being held back by Aston Villa staff from an altercation with away fans.
Despite this, The Athletic reported on Wednesday that Konsa has avoided a fine after taking exception to a section of supporters at Molineux.
Villa have accepted that the defender shouldn’t have acted in that manner, but won’t be punishing the Englishman on this occasion.
Senior members of staff at Bodymoor Heath have spoken to the centre-back and understand that it was difficult to control feelings after the defeat, but feel he needed to be more composed.
Are Aston Villa causing mentality problems for themselves?
Konsa may have shown some passion as he looked to steam into the away end, but that didn’t translate onto the pitch.
He also showed frustration towards fans at Villa Park as he turned around to the Holte End to complain during the draw with Leeds United.
It appears that the ex-Brentford man is becoming immune to criticism in B6 and is clearly struggling to cope with the current negativity.
Villa have decided to let him off despite his poor actions, but it may prove to get worse if results and performances don’t turn around.
Setting the president that you can act how you want and get away with it may be something Emery regrets further down the line.
If Konsa and his teammates can show the same level of passion in upcoming games, they should be able to turn things around and forget the night at Molineux.
