‘I played at Villa Park and there was no atmosphere problem, Aston Villa don’t need this’

Aston Villa have introduced a singing section ahead of their Premier League clash with Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Villans have struggled for form in recent weeks and are now preparing to welcome Liam Rosenior’s side to Villa Park.

Unai Emery is in desperate need of a win over the Blues to maintain his side’s spot in the Premier League table after falling to fourth courtesy of Manchester United.

To help get the claret and blue outfit over the line, a singing section has been introduced to help improve the atmosphere in B6.

The Villa boss has slammed the noise inside the ground in recent weeks, but this idea certainly hasn’t gone down well.

Aston Villa singing section slammed by ex-goalkeeper

The Villans have designated an area of 50 seats within the lower North Stand that will see fans focus on being loud against Chelsea.

The 1897 Group have members ready to take up those seats as their mission continues to help make Villa Park a fortress once again.

Many supporters agree that the atmosphere has been flat in recent weeks, but many feel as if the football isn’t helping that.

That is the feeling of former Millwall goalkeeper Bryan King, who has played and worked at Villa Park and never saw a problem with the noise.

The ex-Villa scout has slammed the idea of the singing section, suggesting that better performances are needed to boost the atmosphere.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “They want to perform on the pitch, there’s never been any problems there before.

“They need to get back to winning matches and winning them well.

“I played there, played against Villa and worked for Villa for nearly 11 years, and there’s never been a question about atmosphere.

“There’s always been a good atmosphere at Villa Park, it’s one of the great football grounds.

“A singing section? Who are they getting in, ABBA?”

Villa Park could be bouncing vs Chelsea

There has been plenty of scrutiny aimed towards fans in B6 recently, as it feels as if we have been blamed for recent poor performances.

Ollie Watkins made his feelings known earlier in the summer and suggested that Villa Park was quiet due to high expectations.

That really isn’t the case for many, it is more of a case of some recent shocking performances that have shown very little fight or desire.

If the Villans get it right and show that they care against Chelsea, Villa Park will be buzzing under the lights on Wednesday, but only if they see a performance to be proud of.
