Aston Villa have one big advantage over Wolves ahead of Premier League clash

Wolves manager Rob Edwards has lost every single match he has managed against Aston Villa in his career.

Unai Emery’s side face the Premier League’s bottom club at Molineux on Friday evening, as they look to get back to winning ways.

Villa were dumped out of the FA Cup by Newcastle United earlier this month before drawing 1-1 with Leeds United last Saturday.

Given Edwards’ horrific record against the Midlands outfit though, they will be confident of picking up all three points.

When has Rob Edwards faced Aston Villa before?

Edwards has faced Aston Villa three times in his managerial career, twice during his time at Luton Town, and once at Wolves earlier this season.

The 43-year-old was in charge of Luton for their sole campaign in the Premier League back in 2023-24, but lost out to the Midlands outfit on both occasions.

Emery’s side beat the Hatters 3-1 at home, and Lucas Digne scored a late header to give them a 3-2 win at Kenilworth Road.

Edwards was unable to break his curse back at the end of November, despite taking charge of Wolves, as Boubacar Kamara scored the only goal of the game at Villa Park.

Aston Villa must be wary of Wolves trip

Despite history and the current Premier League table indicating that there will only be one result on Friday evening, Aston Villa will still have to be at their best.

In recent weeks, the Midlands side have struggled without the likes of Kamara, John McGinn and Youri Tielemans.

They have won only one of their last five games across all competitions, and are now just three points clear of Manchester United in the table.

Villa’s title hopes may have been extinguished by their poor form over the past few weeks, but they are still big favourites to secure Champions League football.

However, in order to finish in the top five this season, Emery’s side will have to ensure they put in solid performances against the likes of Wolves.
