How Lamare Bogarde has earned new Aston Villa contract as talks set to begin

Lamare Bogarde appears to be edging closer to a new contract at Aston Villa.

The Dutchman has played an auxiliary role at Villa Park this season and has plugged a number of gaps when required.

He has featured across the back four and as part of a midfield two, while looking accomplished despite being one of the least experienced players in the squad.

At 22, the versatile ace has become a trusted lieutenant under Unai Emery and has been a useful cog in the B6 machine in the past two seasons.

Bogarde’s form looks set to make way for fresh terms in the Midlands, and now, Villa News has assessed why he deserves that.

Why Lamare Bogarde deserves new contract

The Bodymoor Heath product has only started seven Premier League games this season, but has performed well when given the chance.

He started at right-back in his last league 90 minutes and helped to keep a clean sheet against Brighton at Villa Park.

The Netherlands youth international maintained an 88 per cent pass accuracy and contributed to seven defensive actions in the Midlands.

Arguably, his best showing of the campaign came against Tottenham in the FA Cup, where he featured in a midfield two and won six duels.

He also combined that with five defensive actions as he helped to see out a third-round victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

These two showings are just examples and are more of a norm than outliers for the 22-year-old who has certainly proven his worth in B6.

Who will be next to land new Aston Villa contract?

There are no fears of losing any Villa stars at free contracts at the end of the current season, with 2028 representing the biggest concern.

Youri Tielemans is out of contract that summer, and his deal can’t be allowed to run down because of just how important he is.

The Belgium international captain may be out until April, but his absence certainly proves the issues that the Villans face without him.

A new deal to keep him at Villa Park until beyond 2030 would be a massive statement of intent in the Midlands, especially if he follows Bogarde in penning a new deal.

This pair have to be the next in line to have their terms reviewed as both have proven exactly how good they can be in claret and blue.
