Jamie O’Hara hits back at Aston Villa fan after what he just said live on air

Aston Villa are nervously watching over their shoulders as they dropped points yet again in the race for the Champions League.

Villa drew 1-1 against Leeds at Villa Park on Saturday, and the likes of Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool are fighting to catch up with Unai Emery‘s side in third place.

They’ve been very unlucky with injuries as Boubacar Kamara is sidelined for the rest of the season, while Youri Tielemans is out of action until mid-April.

John McGinn has also been ruled out until the start of March at the very least, and it has proved to be a crushing blow for Villa’s title aspirations.

Following the draw, Jamie O’Hara argued with a fan over the claim that PSR has been the cause of Villa’s recent struggles in the Premier League, as they weren’t able to invest in a deeper squad.

Jamie O’Hara hits back at critical Aston Villa fan

Douglas Luiz returned to B6 on loan from Juventus to provide some cover, but it was clear that Villa couldn’t spend much money in the winter transfer window.

Conor Gallagher joined Spurs over Villa for £34million, which was a fee that was completely out of the Villan’s price range.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 21 February, O’Hara gave some context to a fan who wasn’t happy with the team’s current form.

The supporter cited that PSR is the real problem for Villa, as they have the money they need to reinforce the squad, but they are forced to comply with financial regulations.

O’Hara said: “Look, I get the PSR argument, I really do, but you’ve still got a damn good team, and you weren’t moaning about PSR when you won 11 games in the bounce.”

The supporter also argued that Villa have been severely hampered by their injuries in midfield and that they haven’t been able to adequately replace the absentees as a result.

It’s clear that the poor form isn’t fully down to the lack of options in midfield, as Amadou Onana and Luiz are still perfectly capable players for Villa.

While Kamara, Tielemans and McGinn are all huge losses to the team, there have also been issues in defence and attack that have caused the recent blip in form.

Aston Villa have enough quality to qualify for Champions League football despite midfield injuries

The Villans know that a fifth-placed finish will be enough for them to return to Europe’s elite competition next season.

After missing out on Champions League football on the final day of last season, they’ll be desperate to avoid letting their fate go down to the final day again, especially as they take on Man City.

Despite being light in midfield, Villa still have to play Chelsea and Liverpool in B6, which is a huge advantage.

In March, Villa host Liam Rosenior’s side before facing a visit to Old Trafford, and this will undoubtedly have a huge say on who qualifies for the Champions League.

Villa have excelled against the bigger teams this season, and it wouldn’t be a shock if they were to win against Man United and Chelsea and put some daylight between themselves and their opponents.

If that does happen, Villa would virtually secure a top-five finish.
