Arsenal told to pay £150m to sign Morgan Rogers in record-breaking deal, as transfer timeline laid out

Morgan Rogers is bound to attract massive amounts of transfer interest at Aston Villa in the summer.

The attacking midfielder has followed on from a breakout campaign last season by becoming a true talisman at Villa Park this time around.

His goal and assist output has taken a step up and that has pushed him into the higher bracket of Premier League players on form.

The 23-year-old is now a regular for England under Thomas Tuchel and will be fighting for a starting role at the World Cup in North America.

The summer tournament could make way for a big-money Villa exit for Rogers, with Arsenal potentially set to flex their financial muscle in B6.

Morgan Rogers to fetch Premier League record transfer fee

The Villans aren’t shy when it comes to setting huge transfer fees for their best players, with Jack Grealish representing a key example.

The Bodymoor Heath product joined Manchester City for £100million in 2021, with many deals completed over that figure since, with Alexander Isak’s Liverpool switch currently holding the Premier League record.

That may not stand much longer, with Mikel Arteta potentially in the market to make new history in the upcoming summer window.

Former Villa scout Bryan King has suggested that the Gunners will be interested in signing Rogers and could pay £150m for his signature.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “If he goes, it will be a British record, I’m certain.

It will be something in the region of £150m and certainly beat Isak’s record from Newcastle to Liverpool.

Premier League record signings:

He’s just got to concentrate on finishing the season with Villa, and then it’s World Cup time. If there is going to be a deal done, it will be after the World Cup.

I wouldn’t let him go for less than £150m. Real Madrid, PSG and Arsenal will be looking at him; he’d fit in nicely alongside Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.

That could be a really interesting midfield.”

Would Aston Villa accept £150m for Rogers?

The simple answer would be yes.

Could Villa, in their current state with PSR, really afford to turn away a fee that is only bettered by Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in world record fees?

Although Christian Purslow’s three replacements for Grealish never really hit his heights, the £100m did seriously help the Villans to evolve.

You would back Emery to find better options than Leon Bailey, Emi Buendia and Danny Ings to replace Rogers, even if it would be a massive blow to lose him.

The England international may have his choice of any club in world football to join in the summer, something that will certainly leave Villa in a unique position.
