Bundesliga high-flyers in talks to sign Rory Wilson in multi-million deal with Aston Villa

Rory Wilson looks destined to depart Aston Villa before the January window ends.

Wilson has attracted winter interest at Villa, with several clubs from across Europe expressing interest in his signature.

Villa News revealed intrigue from Norway in the Scot before news of a new Villa contract for Wilson emerged earlier this month.

The Villans now seemingly have a choice on their hands after Villa decided to allow Wilson out on loan after his return from injury last year.

Fresh links away from Villa Park have now emerged for Wilson, with the Bundesliga mooted as a potential landing destination this winter.

Rory Wilson could join Hoffenheim in January

There is no real pathway into the first team in B6, with Unai Emery typically reluctant to throw young players in at the deep end.

The likes of George Hemmings and Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba have recently been given opportunities, but have earned their stripes after years of thriving in the academy.

Wilson has done well at Bodymoor Heath, but needs to maintain a high level of form at the oldest youth level in the Midlands.

The lack of first-team chance has prompted the striker to look for a route out of Villa Park on loan, with clubs in Denmark, Norway, Austria and the Netherlands initially interested.

Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim have made an enquiry for the Scotsman just two days before the January window ends.

The initial suggestion is that the Germans are asking about a loan deal with an option to buy, with the summer option set at around £6million.

Hoffenheim could make irrefusable case to Aston Villa for Wilson deal

Hoffenheim are sat third in the Bundesliga right now and have already scored 40 goals across their 19 league outings.

Christian Ilzer’s side has created the fourth most chances in the entire division, having created 56 opportunities so far.

Those sorts of stats could make for the perfect place for Wilson to learn and become a regular scorer in senior football, just as he has been in youth action for Villa.

It seems like a win-win situation for all parties if Hoffenheim make an offer where Villa can land a sizable fee, while also allowing a youngster to pick up much-needed minutes.

With so little time remaining in the window, the German side have plenty of work to do if they want to get a deal done, so they need to make an offer Emery and Co. can’t refuse.
