Aston Villa in for Danilho Doekhi as ‘significant loss’ expected
Aston Villa have turned focus towards signing Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi.
Doekhi has been on the radar of other Premier League teams this window, namely Leeds United.
The 27-year-old has caught the eye for Union this season, having made 19 appearances in Bundesliga and a couple in the DFB-Pokal.
And according to German newspaper Bild’s print edition on Wednesday, Doekhi could soon be on the move from Germany.

Aston Villa join Leeds United in Danilho Doekhi chase
Villa are fast closing in on the signing of Douglas Luiz, which will instantly improve Unai Emery’s midfield options with some key men out injured.
Youri Tielemans is expected to miss a couple of months for Villa, while John McGinn could also miss up to eight weeks of action.
That is not to say other positions are not being targeted, however, with a centre-back also seemingly on Emery’s radar.
Bild reports that Villa have joined Leeds in showing an interest in Doekhi, who is due to be out of contract at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei this summer.
The report adds that Doekhi is expected to leave Union in the summer in what will be a ‘significant loss’ for the Bundesliga side.
However, it is not known how advanced Villa’s interest is in the former Netherlands Under-21s international at this stage.
Villa have secret weapon who could persuade Doekhi to join
Doekhi is clearly a man in demand and it is good to see Villa already eyeing up potential options for the summer window – or perhaps even beforehand.
The Dutchman has also previously played for Vitesse in Eredivisie, racking up over 100 top-flight appearances, so he ticks the experienced box.

Villa have already said goodbye to Yasin Ozcan this month and it is important the Villans do not rest on their laurels in order to push on.
And they may well have a secret weapon already in their ranks to help persuade Doekhi to join, as he is the cousin of Lamare Bogarde.
There is a belief that family connection could help Villa, with this one to certainly keep an eye on over the coming days and weeks.
