Triston Rowe backed to shine at Aston Villa as ‘excellent’ verdict emerges from Annecy insider
Aston Villa fans will be delighted to learn how well Triston Rowe has done on loan at Annecy.
Rowe was linked to Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, but instead took the opportunity to make a temporary switch to Europe.
The Villans clearly rate the right-back, offering Rowe a new deal at Villa Park in October 2024, before his first move into senior football in the summer of 2025.
There was hope that Rowe could have a breakthrough season for Villa this time around, but instead, he took the plunge into Ligue 2.
It looks as if Rowe made the right decision, with glowing reviews now emerging from Annecy after his first half-season in France.
Annecy insider provides Triston Rowe insight
Good work was done back in 2023 as Villa rebuffed Chelsea interest in Rowe to keep hold of the talented defender.
There are positive expectations for the 19-year-old, despite having yet to make his first-team debut under Unai Emery.
There is a feeling that the full-back could make that step up in the coming seasons, with his loan spell on the continent looking like the perfect start to his senior career.

Rowe has made 16 appearances in Ligue 2 this season and has managed to make a positive impression on Annecy fan page Rouges and Blancs 74.
They have piled massive praise on the Villa loanee and have shared their belief that he will thrive in the Premier League at some point in his career.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, they said: โTriston Rowe is excellent.
โHeโs been a regular starter since his arrival as a right wing-back, and he really gives the team a boost when theyโre on the ball.
โIโve rarely seen a player this fast at Annecy. Heโs also capable of some great shots.

โFor our coach, Laurent Guyotโs style of play, based on pressing and long distances covered by the players, is just perfect.
โOf course, heโs not perfect, and perhaps he can still improve defensively, even though the wing-back position is more offensive than defensive these days.
โGiven his potential, his qualities, his talent, and the fact that heโs playing a season in Ligue 2, which is a very physical league, I have no doubt heโll eventually establish himself in the Premier League.
โItโs almost depressing not being able to keep him.โ
Rowe could thrive on Aston Villa return
Matty Cash has got the right-back position locked down in B6 right now, but competition wouldnโt be a bad thing for the Poland international.
He doesnโt get that from Andres Garcia, but could face more of a battle with Rowe if he can maintain his form after his Annecy return.
The Englishman has started 13 games in Ligue 2 and has registered two goal involvements, which is a useful output for a rookie right-back.
| Stat (Ligue 2 25/26) | Triston Rowe |
| Shots | 5 |
| Chances created | 9 |
| Successful crosses | 11 |
| Successful dribbles | 18 |
| Touches in opposition box | 18 |
| Fouls won | 10 |
He has created nine chances and has been successful with 11 crosses, while driving forward with 18 dribbles throughout the campaign.
That hasnโt negatively affected his defensive work as the full-back has won 23 tackles and 61 duels so far in Ligue 2, hugely positive work for the Villa youngster.
There are clearly high hopes for Rowe, and everyone associated with the claret and blue outfit will want to see him realise his potential in B6.
