Aston Villa to recall Kosta Nedeljkovic if right-back agrees exit in surprise twist

Aston Villa could soon welcome Kosta Nedeljkovic back from his loan spell.

Villa have already recalled Leon Bailey from his time at Roma, with injuries and transfers taking their toll on Unai Emery’s side.

That didn’t impact Villa in their 2-0 win against Newcastle United last time around, but things don’t look like getting better any time soon.

It appears that there is still business to be done this January, with Villa set to re-sign both Douglas Luiz and Tammy Abraham before the window ends.

Another return could see Nedeljkovic make his way back to Villa Park, with a departure potentially set to go through before the window ends.

Kosta Nedeljkovic could return after right-back sale

Nedeljkovic remained at RB Leipzig on loan in the summer after an initial spell across the second half of last season.

The Serbia international has been a bit-part player in the Bundesliga so far this campaign and could be open to a Midlands return this winter.

The potential of a recall could take a step closer if Andres Garcia is to complete a surprise move away from B6 after a difficult season.

Injuries have taken a toll on the Spaniard’s availability, with Matty Cash’s performances also limiting him to just two Premier League appearances.

Elche have shown interest in the right-back’s signature, a deal that former scout Bryan King believes could make way for a Nedeljkovic return.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “If Cash can stay fit, he’s going to play.

He’s done well, he’s worked hard and has been a central member of the team.

I don’t think it would be an important signing to bring a new right-back in, even if Garcia goes.

It sounds sensible to bring Nedeljkovic back.

He’s not going to cost anything because he’s your player, and if Garcia leaves, he could be a simple solution at Leipzig to bring back.

Nedeljkovic may welcome RB Leipzig winter exit

Garcia may be let go after a largely disappointing spell, outside of his first few appearances in claret and blue.

The defender has never truly recovered from his mistake against Liverpool and has certainly been outdone by Cash during his injury recovery.

Allowing him to leave for a fee could be wise this January, especially with an option potentially already waiting in the wings.

Nedeljkovic could make for a useful asset in B6, but could also be happy to leave the Bundesliga after so few opportunities at Leipzig.

Having played just six times this season, it could make sense for Villa to bring the Serbian back to the Midlands and utilise his services across the second half of the season.

There is no mention in Leipzig’s official announcement of his loan signing that a permanent option is involved, so the cancellation of his loan could benefit all parties.
