Wolves make David Moller Wolfe sale decision as Aston Villa hunt deadline-busting raid
Aston Villa look set for a hectic final week of the winter transfer window.
Unai Emery has so far welcomed two new faces to Villa Park this winter, with Brian Madjo signing from Metz and Alysson joining from Gremio.
However, those two players are both 17 and 19, respectively, and as such, are definitely ones for the future as opposed to the here and now.
Emery is hoping to sign a few experienced players before the 2 February deadline, though, as he looks to ensure he’s got enough quality and depth to take the Premier League title race to the distance.
Tammy Abraham is reportedly close to an Aston Villa return, whilst Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has also been linked with a move to Villa Park.

Gianluca Di Marzio deals Aston Villa blow in David Moller Wolfe race
It’s been a quiet winter transfer window in the West Midlands so far, with many Aston Villa fans not overly happy with the relative lack of movement on the incomings front.
However, Villa chiefs are having to be careful regarding how much money they spend, as they continue to wrestle with PSR and UEFA financial restrictions.
That’s not to say the transfer pot is empty, but shrewd, pragmatic business appears to be on the agenda at Villa Park at the moment.
Forward-thinking deals with long-term pay-offs are seemingly what Villa are targeting at present, exemplified through the signings of Madjo and Alysson.
That also could be why Villa have reportedly been eyeing up a raid on their relegation-resigned rivals Wolves, for their highly-rated young left-back David Moller Wolfe.

As exclusively revealed by our sister site Football Insider in late December 2025, Emery is in the market for a new left-back and has set his sights on Moller Wolfe.
However, if Villa are still plotting to secure the 23-year old’s signature before the deadline, they may have to play their hand soon.
That’s because a fresh update from transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio via X on Monday has revealed that Italian giants Roma have got Moller Wolfe at the top of their full-back wishlist.
Di Marzio does report that Wolves’ demands regarding their asking price are high, but he’s evidently got a number of potential suitors that would like to sign him.

Do Aston Villa need Moller Wolfe?
Capable of playing both in his natural role of left-back as well as both a wing-back and as a winger, Moller Wolfe would provide Aston Villa with a versatile, attack-minded left-sided player.
The Norwegian international has two Carabao Cup goals and an FA Cup assist to add to his two Premier League assists this season, and has been a bright spot in an otherwise fairly grim term at Molineux so far.
But, do Villa really need him? Well, possibly not at this very moment in time, but for next season and beyond, quite possibly.
- Moller Wolfe signed for Wolves from AZ Alkmaar in this season’s summer window
- He’d played over 90 times for AZ, scoring four goals
- He’s been capped 18 times by Norway, scoring once
Lucas Digne is 32 and looks to be firmly on his way to losing his starting role to Ian Maatsen, and given he’s only 23, could be making a strong case to be the starter at left-back for the future.
However, that’s certainly not set in stone by any means, and so adding a player like Moller Wolfe could not only enable to gradually move on from Digne, but also provide Maatsen with some much-needed cover and competition moving forward.
