Aston Villa eye deadline-busting transfer for PSG gem as contract update emerges

Aston Villa could be looking at a busy end to the transfer window.

Tammy Abraham seems set to join Unai Emery’s side, with the striker saying goodbye to his Besiktas team-mates in recent days.

That follows on from the signing of Alysson earlier in the window and Leon Bailey’s AS Roma loan being cut short.

It now seems that more incomings could be made over the next week, as the Villans look to strengthen the squad that currently has them in third place.

Scoring goals and creating clear chances has been an issue for Emery this season, even if results do not show it, and that could be solved after links to a promising attacker.

Aston Villa could swoop for Ibrahim Mbaye before transfer window shuts

Aston Villa may look to invest in the forward areas in the next few days even after the signing of Abraham and Alysson this window.

According to The Sun, Villa are interested in signing PSG ace Ibrahim Mbaye before the January deadline.

However, they are not the only side looking at the young gem, with multiple other Premier League sides, including Chelsea, all involved in the race.

There is a chance that the Senegalese international remains at PSG, as the report suggests the French champions could offer him a new contract in their efforts to keep him.

PSG do not wish to lose the young star, but if a side can offer him more minutes, he could be tempted to make the switch.

At present, Emery has multiple players in Mbaye’s position, but the future of those forwards is also up in the air.

Who is Ibrahim Mbaye?

Ibrahim Mbaye is an 18-year-old right-sided winger who currently plays for PSG. The youngster has been a rotation player for the Parisian club throughout this season, starting just nine games in all competitions.

The forward played a key role for Senegal in their recent African Cup of Nations success, featuring in all but one of the Lions’ fixtures.

With Bailey returning from loan and the signing of Alysson back at the start of January, the prospect of another right-sided attacker joining does not make much sense for the Villans unless there are still some outgoings to be made.

Evan Guessand has been linked with a move away from the club, and Bailey has been touted for a move to Ajax after returning from hi

Time will tell what happens with Mbaye’s future and whether Villa makes the move for the Senegalese star, but that could all be dependent on who leaves in the next week.
