Supercomputer predicts result of Newcastle vs Aston Villa in Premier League

Aston Villa will be looking to continue their impressive form in the Premier League against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Villans travel to St. James’ Park in search of another three points in the Premier League, which could see them go up into second place, depending on Manchester City’s result against Wolves.

Unai Emery will want his side to bounce back after Villa lost 1-0 to Everton last time out in the league, while Eddie Howe is hoping for Newcastle to win their third match out of their last five.

Villa are hopeful of tying up a deal for Tammy Abraham, but it looks as though the striker will be unable to make his debut at the weekend.

Ahead of the showdown, Opta’s Supercomputer has given its predictions for the clash.

Aston Villa narrowly predicted to lose vs Newcastle

Villa beat Fenerbahce 1-0 midweek courtesy of Jadon Sancho’s first goal for the club, and Emery will be hoping for his side to carry the momentum into the weekend.

But Newcastle are also in a good spot after defeating PSV 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday, with the Magpies’ attack firing on all cylinders.

Taking all things into consideration, Opta‘s Supercomputer has predicted Newcastle as the favourites to beat Aston Villa on Sunday, with a 40.8 per cent chance of victory

Jacob Murphy needs to be the man that Emery targets if the winger starts, as the Englishman has created the most big chances for Howe’s side with eight so far this season.

Newcastle’s goalscoring form may worry Villa fans, as the Magpies have netted 10 times in the last five games compared to the Villans’ six.

But the glaringly obvious omen that is against Villa coming into this one, is the task of overcoming St. James’ Park.

Aston Villa’s record at St. James’ Park is horrid

Villa have been aided by Sancho’s goal as the winger could be about to enter his best period for the Villans.

There’s clear quality in Emery’s frontline, but it hasn’t always clicked. However, Sancho could form a new trio with Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins.

Emery will hope so anyway, because Villa need to pull something out of the back against Newcastle.

Aston Villa’s last five Premier League games at St. James’ Park

Villa haven’t been able to win at St. James’ Park since 2005, and that bleak run is predicted to go on this weekend.

Though Newcastle have won games recently, they are not the same side as last season without Alexander Isak.

Emery has the tools to get three points, and he just needs to execute a perfect game plan for the win.
