Aston Villa want Premier League star who could be available for cut-price this month

Aston Villa have had a relatively quiet transfer window up to this point, but they could be set to do some big business before the deadline.

Alysson came in as Villa’s first signing of the month, joining from Brazilian side Gremio for an initial £8.7million.

Unai Emery’s side also added Brian Madjo to their ranks, the 17-year-old forward coming in from Metz for around £10.4m.

While they are two exciting signings, they are most definitely players for the future, meaning that the Villans could do with further first-team additions in the winter window.

Aston Villa race to sign Harry Wilson

With the likes of Jadon Sancho and Evann Guessand failing to consistently perform this season, Villa could do with extra reinforcements out wide.

Morgan Rogers has proved his quality on the left-hand side, but there is a clear weakness on the opposite flank.

According to BBC Sport, Villa have expressed an interest in Fulham star Harry Wilson, who can play on the right wing and in the number 10 position.

Wilson’s contract at Craven Cottage expires at the end of the season, and talks over a new deal are on hold due to the uncertainty about the future of manager Marco Silva.

Villa are one of the teams keeping tabs on the situation, with Brentford, Crystal Palace and Everton all also tracking the Welshman.

It is said there is a possibility that one of the quartet could make a concrete move for Wilson before the deadline on 2 February.

Aston Villa must secure cheap Harry Wilson deal

With Wilson’s contract up at the end of the season, and no indication that he will pen a new deal, the winter window is the last chance for Fulham to cash in.

It means that Villa should be able to secure the forward for a cut-price deal if they wish to do so.

Wilson has been electric in the Premier League so far this season, scoring seven goals and picking up four assists from his 21 appearances.

It is expected that more teams will join the race for the 28-year-old if he becomes available on a free transfer in the summer, so Emery’s side must move now to beat the competition.
