Aston Villa defender agrees personal terms for permanent Villa Park exit

Aston Villa have had a busy winter transfer window so far.

Donyell Malen left Aston Villa to join Roma on loan for £2million, with the deal containing an obligation to buy fee of £25m.

Leon Bailey was recalled as a result, but it’s clear that additional reinforcements are needed at both ends of the pitch.

Villa’s only signings have been Gremio winger Alysson at the start of the window, while Metz youngster Brian Madjo joined for £10m.

Unai Emery’s side are now about to let one of their youngsters leave on a permanent move.

Yasin Ozcan set to leave Aston Villa permanently for a move to Besiktas

Villa signed Yasin Ozcan from Kasimpasa in 2024, but he never made the move to Villa Park until last summer.

The 19-year-old had a promising future ahead of him in B6, and Villa opted to loan the Turkish defender to Anderlecht in order to further his development.

However, Villa are now open to letting Ozcan leave permanently as Besiktas eye up a deal for the centre-back.

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reported that he has agreed to join Besiktas, and the agreement between both clubs is in the process of being finalised.

As a result, Anderlecht will terminate the centre-back’s loan contract, and it looks as though he’ll never play in an Aston Villa shirt.

Ozcan only featured three times for the Belgian outfit this season, and his progress has completely stalled.

Yasin Ozcan’s transfer has been a complete failure

Ozcan joined the Villans for just over £6m, but the move looks to have completely backfired.

He came to Villa with a lot of promise, and it’s clear that Villa have often struggled with balancing the development of several young players at once.

Unfortunately for him, the loan move to Anderlecht came too soon in his career, as he was consistently seen as an understudy.

In his last season with Kasimpasa, he was excellent, and he’s clearly a player who has the potential to become an established centre-back in Europe.

However, given the depth Villa currently have in defence at the moment, it would take a while for him to break into the first team.

Although the fee isn’t clear yet, NSWE may have to cut their losses on Ozcan, and it’s a shame that he never got to fulfil his ambitions in B6.
