Aston Villa open talks to sign AFCON star after crushing Boubacar Kamara injury news
Aston Villa could be without Boubacar Kamara for longer than initially expected.
Kamara picked up an injury against Tottenham after a poor Joao Palhinha challenge ended with the Frenchman leaving the pitch.
Unai Emery will have been disappointed even after Villa went on to beat Tottenham 2-1, booking their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Midfield reinforcements were wanted at Villa Park before this news, with Villa missing out on Conor Gallagher to Tottenham this winter.
Attention could now turn to a new target with a Kamara alternative potentially necessary if injury fears continue to build in B6.
Unai Emery confirmed Boubacar Kamara injury blow
Kamara has been great for Villa this season, with the entire division waking up to his qualities in claret and blue.
The man signed from Marseille has always been highly rated in the Midlands and has now put himself up there with the division’s elite in his position.

That sums up why it is such a blow to lose him to injury, with Emery potentially fearing for the worst after a lack of updates since going off against Tottenham.
The Spaniard spoke out about the midfielder on Friday and confirmed that he could be out for a lengthy period.
He said: “Kamara is out, with his knee. We are checking him and he is visiting some doctors and we are going to know about him in a few days, but is of course not available and maybe for a long time. Hopefully not so, so long time but we are checking him.“
With that development, it looks as if transfer plans could change and turn towards a new defensive midfield option.

Aston Villa interested in Raphael Onyedika at Club Brugge
If Kamara is to be out for months rather than weeks, it could be wise to bring in a more senior defensive midfield option.
That has seen Raphael Onyedika emerge as a target, with Sacha Tavolieri reporting that an initial inquiry was made over the Nigeria international’s situation.
The 24-year-old has spent the past month at AFCON, but still looks destined to leave Club Brugge before the end of the January transfer window.
Galatasaray are also interested in his signature, but with Villa potentially desperate for defensive solidity, an offer could soon be tabled for Onyedika from B6.
