UEFA continue to monitor Aston Villa as £52m Ferran Torres transfer update drops
Aston Villa could risk action from UEFA if they were to sign Ferran Torres from Barcelona this winter.
The Barcelona man has regularly been linked to Villa Park, with Torres first of interest to Villa in 2023, but a move has never come to fruition.
Torres has emerged as a Villa target once again in 2026, as seems to be tradition in every transfer window under Unai Emery.
If a move for the Spaniard was on the cards in B6, Villa would likely pay a record fee for Torres to eclipse the £50million paid for Amadou Onana.
A big-money deal for Torres would come as a surprise in the Midlands, especially with UEFA keeping an eye on the Villans already.
Finance expert baffled by Aston Villa pursuit of Ferran Torres
Villa have looked into signing Torres many times as he continues to put up positive performances for Barcelona.
The 25-year-old would slot perfectly into Emery’s side as a wide forward who is also able to operate as a number nine when required.
He has racked up 12 goal involvements for the Catalan giants this campaign, so would cost upwards of £52m if he were to move to B6.

That sort of fee would be a surprise expense in January, especially after previous fines from UEFA due to SCR breaches.
Finance expert Dan Plumley is shocked by links to Torres and can’t see a deal going through with financial restrictions hanging over Villa Park.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Plumley said: “I’d be very surprised if it were to go through.
“We know they’ve been fined by UEFA, and they’re working under a business plan to get a positive transfer surplus.
“They’re still on the warning list; they might not breach, but they are being monitored.
“Spending £52m looks unlikely from the outside looking in.
“I suppose if they are looking at spending that, they want to qualify for the Champions League and that would significantly improve their revenue.
“There would be a lot of risk around that, so it’s a strange one, and I’d be surprised to see a deal go through at that price.“
Aston Villa turn attention to Tammy Abraham
Torres may be seen as a dream signing for Emery and Co. this winter, but at £52m, that seems highly unrealistic right now.
The Villans could move for the former Manchester City man in the summer if they achieve a top-four finish, but it probably won’t happen this month.
That leaves the door open for Tammy Abraham to make his Villa Park return seven years after his loan spell from Chelsea.
A deal is there to be done with Besiktas and could prove to be the attacking signing the Villans make while facing financial restrictions.
The Englishman has to perform and help the claret and blue outfit into the Champions League, something which could unlock a summer deal for Torres.
