Unai Emery to secure Tammy Abraham after Aston Villa reach new transfer agreement
Unai Emery has received a boost in his attempts to bring Tammy Abraham to Aston Villa.
Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Abraham and would like to re-sign the centre forward during the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Villa Park from Chelsea, scoring 26 league goals as the Midlands outfit secured promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.
Now, Emery’s chances of signing Abraham in the coming weeks have just increased, after news about an expected departure.
Aston Villa agree Donyell Malen departure
Donyell Malen has been linked with a move to Roma in recent days, despite his good form this season for Aston Villa.
The 26-year-old has scored nine goals across all competitions for Emery’s side and has proved to be a superb backup option for Ollie Watkins.
However, according to Stefano Gentili, Villa have agreed to loan Malen to Roma for the rest of the season, with an option to buy included in the deal.
It means that the Italian side could make the move permanent in the summer for a fee of around £21.5million.
While the two clubs have a deal, Malen still needs to agree on terms with Roma for the switch to be confirmed.
Donyell Malen departure opens door for Tammy Abraham
Malen is by no means an out-and-out striker, but he has been the man to fill the void of Watkins up top when the Englishman has been dropped to the bench this season.
The Dutchman’s departure surely wouldn’t have been sanctioned if Villa didn’t have a replacement ready to go, hinting that Abraham could be coming in.
Abraham is currently on loan at Besiktas from Roma, but the Turkish side reportedly have an option to buy the centre-forward, which could complicate the deal.
The feeling is that Villa will have to negotiate with Besiktas instead of Roma to sign the England international in the January window.
