Will Osula exit possibility raised at Newcastle United amid Aston Villa developments – Exclusive
Will Osula could make the move from Newcastle United to Aston Villa this winter.
Osula has remained a Villa target moving into the January transfer window after already being linked to the Midlands over the summer.
A move for Osula was called off due to UEFA finance rules and the impact his signing would have had after Jacob Ramsey’s move to St James’ Park earlier in the window.
Ramsey joined Newcastle from Villa to plenty of uproar, but the sizable fee received from the Magpies was clearly something Unai Emery and Co. couldn’t turn down.
Many months have now passed, and now the Villans could swoop once again for Osula with transfer conditions already set out away from Villa Park.
Will Osula signing assessed at Aston Villa
Villa have already signed Alysson from Gremio this winter, but seemingly want to add to their squad further in the coming weeks.
The fringe ace at Newcastle is seemingly a target, but Eddie Howe’s side have made their feelings clear on a January deal.
The Magpies have a preference towards a loan deal, or in the case of a permanent move, would demand a buy-back option for Osula.
That still leave the door open for the claret and blue outfit to make a move for the forward, with the hope of building on their summer interest.
Former B6 scout Bryan King has questioned why Newcastle would let the 22-year-old leave, but has admitted that he could be a useful addition at Villa Park.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “What Emery needs is a good squad.
“If he thinks that Osula is going to improve the squad he’s got, that’s all well and good, but I’m a great believer in stabilisation.
“The only reason he’d leave Newcastle is that they don’t think he’s good enough.
“There is always a question mark over this type of player, especially in January.
“Name-wise and ability-wise, he’s a player who can add to the strength of the squad at Aston Villa.“
Who is Newcastle United ace Will Osula?
After just one Premier League start this season, the B6 faithful wouldn’t be blamed for having a limited knowledge base on Osula.
The striker is a former of Sheffield United, where he made just 31 appearances, either side of a five-goal loan spell at Derby County.
It was a surprise to see him join the Mags, but the 22-year-old has still managed to make 33 appearances and score five goals in black and white.
Osula is known for his pace and does have a good physical frame, but would likely benefit from more frequent minutes at the highest level.
If Villa could get a deal across the line, it may prove to be a positive piece of business, depending on the fee that Newcastle would demand.
