Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa postponement latest as Met Office issue new Wednesday warning
Aston Villa travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, with Unai Emery’s men looking to continue their pursuit of the Premier League title.
Aston Villa secured a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest last time out, thanks to a John McGinn brace and an Ollie Watkins strike at Villa Park.
Emery’s side are currently level on points with second-place Manchester City following their draw at home to Chelsea, while trailing Arsenal by six.
Villa have been written off in the Premier League title race by multiple pundits, with many questioning their squad depth, but on Wednesday evening, there is a chance to pile the pressure on the Gunners with victory despite the weather potentially derailing the fixture.
Yellow weather warning issued for Crystal Palace
The UK has had to deal with snow and ice this week, with several games across the EFL being postponed due to the conditions.
As it stands, every Premier League game has survived, though the Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning in the South of England on Wednesday ahead of Aston Villa’s visit to Crystal Palace.

“Following a band of precipitation which clears southeast overnight, clear skies will develop for many areas on Tuesday night will lead to icy patches on untreated wet surfaces. This could lead to some minor disruption especially on Wednesday morning,” a statement read on January 6.
There are no adverse conditions mentioned on the day of the contest, which means the fixture should go ahead, but supporters are advised that the weather could cause ‘disruption’ on Wednesday morning.
What is Aston Villa’s recent record vs Crystal Palace
While Villa posted the best win percentage of any team in Europe in 2025 (82.1 per cent), Emery’s side have sometimes slipped up on their travels, and Selhurst Park isn’t a happy hunting ground.
| Date | Result | Competition |
| 26 April 2025 | Crystal Palace 3-0 Aston Villa | FA Cup |
| 25 February 2025 | Crystal Palace 4-1 Aston Villa | Premier League |
| 19 May 2024 | Crystal Palace 5-0 Aston Villa | Premier League |
| 20 August 2022 | Crystal Palace 3-1 Aston Villa | Premier League |
| 16 May 2021 | Crystal Palace 3-2 Aston Villa | Premier League |
| 31 August 2019 | Crystal Palace 1-0 Aston Villa | Premier League |
| 22 August 2015 | Crystal Palace 2-1 Aston Villa | Premier League |
The Midlands team have lost on their previous seven visits to Palace in all competitions, including a 4-1 hammering in this fixture last season.
But given the Eagles are winless in each of their previous seven matches and appear to be gassing out, Villa should fancy their chances of ending this woeful run by winning at Selhurst Park for the first time since December 2014.
