Aston Villa give ‘unofficial green light’ for loanee after ongoing talks
Aston Villa have a huge month coming up, and they have already started on transfer business.
Villa have brought in Alysson from Gremio, with the Brazilian set to bolster their attack, but now the focus seems to be on their youth academy.
Sil Swinkles has been recalled from his loan at Exeter City, and has been sent to Chesterfield to continue his development.
Now, another Villans gem has learnt the fate of his loan spell away from Villa Park.
Oliwier Zych set to stay away from Aston Villa
Oliwier Zych is highly rated at Aston Villa, but was sent to Rakow Czestochowa on loan in the summer transfer window.
Polish journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk claimed on 5 January that Zych was set to stay at Rakow, until the end of their campaign.
He states that the Villans have green-lighted the 21-year-old to remain on loan for the spring round of the Ekstraklasa after ongoing talks in the last few weeks.
How has Zych done away from Aston Villa?
In the beginning of his loan spell, the B6 prospect was behind Kacper Trelowski in the pecking order, and the Villans wanted to recall him.
However, he remained in Poland, and was given a chance in the first team at the end of October, which he grabbed with both hands.
He has made 13 appearances across all competitions, keeping five clean sheets since earning his spot in the team.
| Competition | Zych’s appearances |
| Ekstraklasa | 7 |
| Polish Cup | 2 |
| Europa Conference League | 4 |
Rakow are currently competing in the Europa Conference League, the Polish Cup, and sit fourth in the Ekstraklasa, one point off leaders Wisla Plock, with 16 matches left to play.
He should, therefore, see plenty more action before his loan spell concludes and come back to Bodymoor Heath with significant experience under his belt.
He will hope that he can eventually earn his way into contention for Unai Emery‘s side between the sticks, if Emi Martinez ends up departing next summer, after the Argentine ultimately stayed for this season.
If not, he will likely be sent on loan again to gain more experience, and then assess his options depending on the goalkeeping situation in the West Midlands.
