Zepiqueno Redmond update at Huddersfield Town will be music to Aston Villa’s ears

Aston Villa have heard very little about Zepiqueno Redmond since his summer loan move to Huddersfield Town.

Redmond signed for Villa from Feyenoord on a free transfer as Monchi’s transfer strategy of signing young talent continued.

The Spaniard was known at Villa for signing the likes of Kosta Nedeljkovic and Yasin Ozcan before loaning them out soon after they joined.

The summer signing was no different as Redmond was allowed out on loan to pick up some senior minutes away from Villa Park this season.

Huddersfield Town brought in Redmond, and now Villa News is going to delve into his spell in West Yorkshire this campaign.

Huddersfield Town insider provides Zepiqueno Redmond insight

Redmond has a classy highlight reel from his Feyenoord days, but wasn’t afforded the opportunity to show his talents in the Midlands.

There was hope that a switch to League One could provide the 19-year-old with the perfect opportunity to grow and gain invaluable senior experience.

Things haven’t quite worked out that way with Villa fans noticing the lack of gametime for the Dutchman with the Terriers this season.

A knee injury earlier in the campaign has derailed his loan spell, limiting him to just three appearances across all competitions.

I spoke to Ryan from Huddersfield Town Fan TV, who has revealed that Redmond is now back in training, explaining his excitement to see where the Villa loanee could fit in once he returns.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, he said: “Unfortunately, Redmond, when he first joined us on deadline day, he wasn’t match fit, so it took him a few weeks to get up to speed before we saw him in the squad.

Then he suffered a significant knee injury in late September, which has halted his progress here. He’s very close to returning now, though.

By the end of this month, we should see him back, ready to play, as I know he is now back in training. Grant hasn’t been reluctant to use him, he’s just not been available.

He can play up front or out wide, so potentially on that left-hand side, we could do with someone better there. Radulovic and May are in very good form, but it only takes Redmond to come off the bench and impact a game for him to challenge for a place up top.

We definitely need more firepower to come off the bench and Radulovic can get tired quite easily so there is absolutely opportunities for Redmond in our side.

It’s a very good dilemma to have, really good depth is key in a long, gruelling season in League One.

How has Redmond performed away from Aston Villa?

There is a lack of data from his Huddersfield Town spell to suggest what sort of player Villa have on their hands right now.

The irony of his loan is that the majority of his minutes have come against Manchester City.

The 19-year-old started in the Carabao Cup and featured across 62 minutes as the Terriers unfortunately fell to a 2-0 loss.

Redmond was able to get two shots off against Pep Guardiola’s men, showing that he has the ability to ruffle the feathers of big sides.

He may have missed a big chance, but getting into the right positions as a youngster can be as important as providing consistent output.

Add four ground duel successes to his game, and there are already positive signs for Villa to take after just three matches so far.

There is still hope there that he can shine for Huddersfield, something which Villa will have an eye on throughout the second half of the campaign.
