‘Manchester United can spend whatever they like’ as Morgan Rogers transfer reality drops

Morgan Rogers is the Premier League man of the moment yet again at Aston Villa.

After a slow start to the season, Rogers has exploded at Villa Park again, scoring seven goals and delivering three assists already.

Rogers earned Aston Villa points by himself with stunning goals against Man United, but with Bruno Fernandes losing his touch, that may not be a good thing.

Old Trafford has been touted as a possible destination for Rogers, but Unai Emery has made it very clear that he’s going nowhere yet.

Aston Villa to face huge offers for Morgan Rogers

Dan Plumley insists that the appeal isn’t the same for a move to Old Trafford anymore, though, with Villa well in the running for the Champions League again.

The football finance expert admitted that, unlike most, Man United have the ability to spend huge fees whenever they like, in most cases.

“That’s the reality for a club like Manchester United,” Plumley exclusively told Villa News.

“At the moment, even with the landscape as it is, they continue to buck that trend, and the finances have always been strong regardless of performance on the pitch, which has taken a real dip in the past decade.

For them, getting back into Europe is vital in the long term; you don’t want to be too many seasons out of that.

They could sanction a big transfer, but the thing with Rogers, what is the appeal of going there at the minute, versus where you’re at with Aston Villa?

If you roll that through, when we talk about this, it will all depend on whether Villa make the Champions League, because that’s where players want to play.”

Tottenham wanted to sign Rogers back in the summer after failing with a move for Eberechi Eze, but their desperate attempts went nowhere.

You would expect that if the England international was going to move anywhere, it would be to someone like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal or Manchester City, not Spurs and Man United.
