Harvey Elliott now has perfect blueprint to revive career after surprise Aston Villa exit news
Harvey Elliott looks destined to leave Aston Villa this winter.
Elliott has been a total flop for Villa, going over three months without making a single appearance under Unai Emery.
The Englishman joined on deadline day as Villa fans were excited to welcome Elliott to B6 after such a shocking start to the campaign.
That hasn’t translated into a successful loan spell with Elliott seemingly destined to return to Liverpool at some point in the January transfer window.
It is unclear where Elliott’s future lies as things stand, but he could find himself the perfect temporary home across the second half of the campaign.
Harvey Elliott could join Charlotte FC in January
Elliott has been linked to Charlotte at this early stage of the window, as MLS could offer a place to play football for the next five months.
The attacking midfielder is stuck between a rock and a hard place in European football, as he is only able to feature for Aston Villa or Liverpool due to FIFA regulations.
The only way for the 22-year-old to feature for anyone else would be to move out of UEFA’s footballing calendar.
America looks like the most likely option to fit that mould, with Dean Smith’s side already showing an interest in his signature at this stage of the window.
The former Villa boss has recently spoken out about the claret and blue outfit and could bring another ex-B6 man to the Bank of America Stadium.
A familiar face in the Midlands has already made a home for himself with the Crown and could act as the perfect blueprint for Elliott this winter.
Ashley Westwood could be ideal Aston Villa example for Elliott
Ashley Westwood represents a current Charlotte star who previously featured for the Villans.
The 31-year-old made 162 appearances across five years in claret and blue before he departed for Burnley in January 2017.
He now finds himself with Smith’s side in North Carolina and has already made 112 appearances in three seasons out there.
Obviously, the Englishman was at a different phase of his career when he moved to MLS, but he has shown that it is possible to thrive when making that move.
For half a season, it could prove to be a better and more valuable experience than sitting in the stands at Villa Park.
