Aston Villa complete paperwork for blockbuster 1 January signing

Aston Villa are wasting no time ahead of the January transfer window.

The Villans are flying high this season, with the 4-1 defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday not enough to dampen the mood around Villa Park.

Unai Emery continues to receive high praise after Villa were involved in controversy away to Arsenal as they suffered a blow to their Premier League title hopes.

That looks set to prompt Villa into action in the winter market, even with finances looking likely to be tight as they were in the summer.

A deal looks set to go through once New Year’s Eve celebrations get into full swing, with 1 January set to make way for a new signing in B6.

Aston Villa sign paperwork for Alysson deal

Aston Villa moved for Gremio youngster Alysson in December as they looked to complete an early January swoop for the winger.

New transfer chief Roberto Olabe looks to have got his wish in his first market opportunity at Villa Park, with the teenager set to join from Serie A.

The deal looks to have taken a step closer to completion with less than 24 hours remaining until the January window opens.

Fabrizio Romano has given the move his trademark “Here we go” stamp, as all documents have been signed between Villa and Gremio for the Brazilian talent.

The fee has been mooted at an initial £8.7million for Alysson, with the potential for a further £1.75m in add-ons for further down the line.

Alysson has already waved goodbye to Gremio

The Villans are yet to provide official confirmation on a deal for the teen attacker, but it looks to be in the pipeline for the new year.

Romano has reported that everything is done, with Alysson’s own social media pointing towards a move being ever closer.

The Brazilian took to Instagram on 30 December to say thank you and goodbye to Gremio after joining them at the age of nine.

His statement reads: “It’s been 10 years wearing this shirt, learning, making mistakes, growing and dreaming. I came here when I was 9 years old, and the Guild taught me much more than football: it taught me values, responsibility and love for this club and for these amazing fans.

I carry every person, every moment and every teaching with me, wherever I go. With Gremio, where the Guild is, all the time!

It is clear that the wide man carries excellent morals and values, something that is bound to resonate well with Emery moving forward.
