Brighton sources speak out on Lamare Bogarde transfer in new Aston Villa reveal for January
Lamare Bogarde’s future at Aston Villa has been thrown into question.
Bogarde has featured regularly throughout the European campaign, and he has stepped in for injured players and crucial moments during Villa‘s busy schedule.
Emery has placed great faith in Bogarde to deputise when needed, and his development has skyrocketed despite the lack of consistent minutes.
Villa could have a busy January transfer window, and they certainly won’t invest in another midfielder if Bogarde stays in B6.
Thankfully for Emery, he may not need to worry about an exit.

Brighton sources share final Lamare Bogarde answer for January
The Dutchman has already made 18 appearances this campaign, two more than in the entirety of 2024-25.
The Athletic reports that Brighton have expressed an interest in Bogarde, but sources close to the club have played down the possibility of pursuing the midfielder in January.
Emery is a huge admirer of Bogarde’s development over the previous two years and values his importance in offering squad depth through playing multiple positions.
| Stat | Bogarde |
| Matches | 5 |
| Pass accuracy | 91.6% |
| Accurate long balls | 80% |
| Ground duels won | 66.7% |
| Recoveries | 29 |
Despite being behind Youri Tielemans, Amadou Onana, and Boubacar Kamara in the pecking order, the 21-year-old has proven multiple times that he can step up in their absence.
In the Premier League this season, Bogarde has a pass accuracy of 93.4 per cent, with only 2.5 per cent of midfielders in the top flight registering a higher figure.

Of his 12 league appearances in 2025-26, only three of them have been starts, and perhaps the midfielder will need to see a sharp increase in his playing time.
How much will Lamare Bogarde play for the rest of this season?
Bogarde came through the academy at Villa, and Emery has slowly bedded him into the first team.
Onana struggled with injury issues in September, and as a result, Bogarde started consistently in the top flight for the first time in his career.
Of course, his future game time for the foreseeable future depends on the availability of the midfielders above him in the pecking order.
However, with Villa’s schedule over January looking incredibly busy, Bogarde will likely be used by Emery to avoid the risk of suffering injuries to other key players.
He should have a prominent role as the season progresses, and his Europa League form will be key to how much action he gets in the Premier League.
