Forget Morgan Rogers, another Aston Villa star was immense for Unai Emery vs West Ham
Aston Villa continued their fine form on Sunday as they overcame West Ham 3-2 at the London Stadium.
Morgan Rogers will rightly earn the headlines for his performance in the victory as the winger netted twice in a terrific display.
On top of the England international, many other Aston Villa stars were also immense as they came from behind twice to pick up their ninth victory in a row in all competitions.
However, one performance that may have gone under the radar was that of Victor Lindelof, who was excellent throughout.

Victor Lindelof put in a superb performance in Aston Villa’s victory over West Ham
When Lindelof signed for Aston Villa in the summer, there was plenty of scepticism surrounding the addition.
The former Manchester United star rarely impressed at Old Trafford, which eventually resulted in him becoming a free agent in the summer when his contract expired.
Yet, Unai Emery chose to take a chance on the defender, and this has proved to be a masterful signing.
After mainly featuring in the Europa League, the Sweden international was given his first Premier League start since joining Aston Villa against West Ham.
| Victor Lindelof’s stats vs West Ham | |
| Minutes | 90 |
| Chances created | 1 |
| Assists | 1 |
| Passing completion | 91% |
| Tackles | 1 |
| Clearances | 3 |
| Recoveries | 3 |
Against the Hammers, he was fantastic with Fotmob on 14 December, highlighting that he made three clearances, completed 91 per cent of his passes, and even picked up an assist.
Therefore, it is clear that the signing has been a resounding success so far, and hopefully, this will continue for the foreseeable future.
Morgan Rogers: We are ignoring title race talks
Sunday’s victory has kept Villa in touching distance of Arsenal, who currently reside at the top of the Premier League.
Emery’s side remain just three points off the Gunners in third, while also being one point behind Manchester City in second.
However, while the Villa Park faithful remain excited that a Premier League trophy could be coming their way come May, Rogers was quick to downplay this.
He told BBC’s Match of the Day on 14 December: “We’re not looking at that at all (being in the title race).
“People were talking about relegation before so we are not talking about that. It is about being as consistent as possible.
“At the moment we are in a great run so let’s see where that takes us.”
