Gabby Agbonlahor reveals what he’s been told about Aston Villa transfers as ‘billions available’
Aston Villa are fighting at the top of the Premier League and Gabby Agbonlahor has now clarified their situation heading into the January transfer window.
Emi Buendia’s 95th-minute winner against Arsenal last weekend has left Unai Emery’s side third in the table, just three points behind the league-leading Gunners.
Following a slow start to the season, Villa have now won nine of their last 10 games in the Premier League, and 13 of their last 15 across all competitions.
Now, Agbonlahor has revealed that the Midlands giants have money to spend when the window reopens, but it may not all be plain sailing in terms of recruitment.

Aston Villa restricted from January transfer business
Villa News exclusively revealed on Wednesday that Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Alysson from Brazilian side Gremio, for an initial fee of £8million with £2m in add-ons.
The 19-year-old winger is expected to come in as a development option and will not be thrown straight into the senior side.
Despite their early business, though, Villa are not expected to make any first-team signings in the January window.
According to Agbonlahor, the Midlands outfit have money in the bank to spend, but are hamstrung by Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa striker was asked whether his old side can challenge for the Premier League title this season.
He said: “Do I think Villa are going to be there at the end of the season? The squad tells me probably not, unless we can bring in players in January.”
Former Scotland international Alan Brazil then asked: “Is there money there?”
Agbonlahor replied: “There is, there’s billions available, but PSR rules mean they can’t spend in January. That’s what I’m hearing.”
Aston Villa consider sales as PSR issues continue
Aston Villa narrowly avoided breaching PSR limits over the summer, but it seems that they are still struggling to stay within the regulations.
The Midlands giants may have to sanction player exits during the January transfer window in order to raise funds.
Evann Guessand has been linked with an Aston Villa departure in recent weeks, after struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League.
Emery’s side only signed Guessand from Nice back in August, but his time at Villa Park could already be coming to an end.
While Villa are indeed flying high right now, Emery surely will not be able to sustain this unless he is given some backing.
