Aston Villa player ratings vs Basel: Youri Tielemans game-changer, 3/10 awful once more
Aston Villa secured a 2-1 win over Basel on Thursday.
Unai Emery’s side have secured yet another Europa League victory, with Villa securing a 2-1 win over Young Boys in their last outing.
Villa travelled to Basel in need of three points to secure a top 20 place in the league phase and did exactly that with Youri Tielemans bagging the winner off the bench.
Evann Guessand grabbed the opener against Basel as he netted yet another scrappy goal to take his goal tally in claret and blue to two.
Tielemans ultimately changed the game for the Villans to secure three points, and now Villa News rates each player’s performance out of 10.

Youri Tielemans secures win vs Basel
The Belgium international was stellar as Aston Villa secured a 2-1 win over Arsenal and repeated his heroics, this time off the bench.
Emery called on the midfielder at half time as he replaced Matty Cash after he picked up a needless yellow card in the first half.
The 28-year-old was able to complete 92 per cent of his attempted passes while creating one chance for his teammates.
Tielemans also chipped in with four defensive contributions and was able to win three of his three attempted ground duels.
He was ultimately the game-changer and helped the Villans to ride the storm that was a difficult first half for the away side.

Evann Guessand has yet another stinker for Aston Villa
There is always an element of risk when you make a signing, but for £35million, Villa fans expected a lot more from Guessand.
The Ivorian came with so much promise of what he could do under Emery, but has totally underdelivered and looks like a fish out of water in B6.
He may have scored the opener for Villa, but the goal in itself sums up his Villa career; massively scruffy.
Guessand was trusted to play 90 minutes, but was hardly effective in that time as he took two shots, with the second causing very little problems for Marwin Hitz.
Two attempted dribbles and two failed attempts sum up his game as he also won just seven of his 13 duels on the night.
Having completed zero per cent of his crosses and dribbles, Emery will surely have huge questions about what is going wrong for the forward.
