‘I worked for Aston Villa and I don’t understand why they signed Harvey Elliott, he’s not a Villa player’

Harvey Elliott has seriously struggled since joining Aston Villa in the summer.

Elliott signed for Villa on loan from Liverpool with an obligation to buy the attacking midfielder for £35million if he plays 10 matches.

There was excitement when Elliott signed for Villa, but that hasn’t materialised in a positive spell at Villa Park.

Villa seemingly want Elliott to return to Liverpool in January, with it looking doubtful that he will feature again under Unai Emery.

Questions have been raised over the treatment of Elliott and why the Villans even moved to sign him from Liverpool in the first place.

Bryan King questions Harvey Elliott signing at Aston Villa

Villa and Elliott would be happy to lose Elliott in the coming weeks after just five appearances for the Villans since his deadline-day move.

The England under-21 international has featured in just 97 Premier League minutes, and that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.

It is unclear to supporters why Emery isn’t backing the 22-year-old, but former scout Bryan King doesn’t understand why Villa signed him at all.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “I don’t think Harvey Elliott is a Villa player.

I don’t know why they brought him in, in the first place, he’s not a Villa player. I was at Villa for years with John Gregory, Graham Taylor and Brian Little, he isn’t a Villa player.

I can see him ending up in London with someone like West Ham or Spurs, that’s where I think he’ll end up eventually.

If he goes back to Liverpool, with the way they’ve been playing, he’ll probably get a chance.

You can’t have a £35m player who has turned out to be a bigger misfit than someone like Guessand.

You’d think with his pedigree and that figure, he’d walk straight into the team, but he doesn’t; there are many things that come into question.

Elliott could leave Aston Villa for America or Brazil

The attacking midfielder was the Player of the Tournament after the under-21 EUROs, where he netted five goals in just six games.

England won the trophy, with Elliott at the heart of the side, but that hasn’t translated onto the club stage this campaign.

Should the 22-year-old leave B6 in January, he will be unable to play for anyone else but Liverpool for the rest of the campaign.

That is, unless he joins a division with a different calendar, such as the MLS or the Brazilian Serie A, which could be an option if the Villans can cancel his deal.
