Exclusive: Aston Villa seal Alysson signing – ‘Excellent piece of business’

Aston Villa look to have completed a deal to sign Alysson from Gremio, Villa News understands.

Villa sent scouts to watch Alysson against Cruzeiro in November and now appear to have made their interest count in South America.

Reports emerged earlier in the week suggesting a fee in the region of £10.5million had been tabled by the Villans for the 19-year-old.

The Brazilian youngster is said to be keen on a move to Villa Park, with Alysson now looking set to join the claret and blue outfit ahead of the January transfer window.

That’s according to a Brazilian journalist, Eduardo Picao, who has revealed to Villa News that a deal for Alysson has been sealed.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Picao said: “Aston Villa have completed the signing of Alysson from Gremio, and I believe it’s an excellent piece of business for Villa.

The prospect of signing a Brazilian youngster will be exciting for everyone associated with the claret and blue outfit, moving closer to the winter market.

Emery is in need of additional depth in his Villa squad in January as he looks to build a side that can maintain a spot near the top of the Premier League.

Alysson will come in as an unknown quantity to many, but there is no hiding from the superb assessment of him coming from Brazil.

Picao has offered insight into the right-winger and believes he could be perfect for the Premier League once he switches to Bodymoor Heath.

The Brazilian journalist added, “Alysson is a very promising player. He has all the characteristics that fit the Premier League: he’s quick, strong in transition, good on the dribble, and has all the tools to become a top player.

His main weakness is decision-making, but that’s something that can be improved with coaching and experience.

He has no off-field issues, works hard, and Villa are getting him for a very good price due to Grêmio’s current financial needs.

Overall, I see this as a smart signing with high upside.

Who is Aston Villa transfer target Alysson?

Morgan Rogers signed for Aston Villa in January 2024 and has since proven to be a stellar signing for the claret and blue outfit.

The B6 faithful will be confident that the England international’s rise can be repeated, especially with a talent set to come in from Brazil.

Roberto Olabe joined Aston Villa to replace Monchi earlier in the campaign and is already looking to work his magic as President of Football Operations.

The Spaniard looks set to kickstart his time in the Midlands with the signing of Alysson, but who is he?

Gremio’s number 47 likes to operate off the right, but isn’t your typical Brazilian winger, as he is more physical, so is bound to be ideal for an Emery system.

The teenager has made 42 appearances for Gremio and has thrived with his ability to carry the ball, while also having a terrific defensive work rate.

His profile is similar to Rogers’ when Villa picked him up, though time will tell how he performs in the Premier League.
