Door opens for Aston Villa to sign Jack Grealish after £30m update at Manchester City

Aston Villa could bring Jack Grealish back to Villa Park in the summer.

Grealish joined Everton on loan in the summer as his spell at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola came to an unsurprising end.

That ended any hope of Grealish returning to Aston Villa for another season, despite links with a move back to Villa Park being rife throughout the window.

Grealish has been excellent for Everton this season and has certainly proven his quality after being given regular minutes away from the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish now has less than six months remaining on his deal with the Toffees, with a Midlands switch potentially back on the cards ahead of the summer.

Jack Grealish could be available for cut-price deal from Manchester City

Welcoming the attacking midfielder back to B6 would likely be well-received by the claret and blue faithful, especially after a positive spell on Merseyside.

Grealish himself may welcome a Villa move, especially if he gets the chance to play Champions League football with his boyhood club.

There may be concerns surrounding that point if the Englishman is to sign for the Toffees on a permanent deal in the summer.

Everton may be dealt a blow in that respect if Manchester City drops their asking price from the initial £50million buy option in his loan agreement.

Alan Nixon reported to his Patreon on 7 December that the Citizens could agree to a summer sale for a figure closer to £30m.

The journalist has suggested that the fee could pique the interest of transfer rivals to the Goodison club when the summer window opens.

Why couldn’t Villa be one of those interested parties?

Aston Villa should move for Grealish next summer

Villa are in such a great place right now that Champions League qualification is becoming a realistic possibility once again.

Unai Emery learned in his first campaign in Europe’s elite competition at Villa Park that strength in depth is the most important factor in being successful.

Someone like Grealish could prove to be a shrewd piece of business, adding top-level experience and true quality to the squad.

Tie that in with his love for the B6 club, and it feels like a no-brainer at a cut-price deal should his excellent form at Everton continue.

Ross Barkley was signed in a similar fashion, albeit at a much lower cost, and he has proven to be a valued member of the squad.

It could finally be time for Super Jack to make his claret and blue return.
