Aston Villa player exit may be only option as Unai Emery spotted raging – Exclusive

Aston Villa could already have one big-name exit in the pipeline ahead of the summer transfer window.

Villa may have secured a 4-3 win over Brighton last time around, but it wasn’t completely positive for the travelling claret and blue faithful.

The Villans fell two behind on the day, but were bailed out by Ollie Watkins, who netted two against Brighton to potentially kickstart his season.

Unai Emery was spotted raging on the sidelines at Brighton as his frustrations boiled over before his side secured yet another important victory.

Emery’s annoyance may have gone one step too far at Villa Park, with a summer departure potentially now increasingly likely.

Unai Emery could let Evann Guessand leave in the summer

Evann Guessand has been largely poor for Villa since signing from OGC Nice in the summer, leaving supporters unsure what he can actually do.

The Ivory Coast international has very little nuance to his game and has been largely frustrating throughout his spell in the Midlands.

That has left the Villa faithful hugely annoyed with his performances each week, and it appears Emery felt that frustration against Brighton.

The Spaniard was seen barking orders in an enraged fashion on the sidelines as the forward did very little to impress.

Former Villa scout Bryan King believes Emery has to make things work, but could ultimately be forced to let the summer signing go next summer.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, King said: “Emery’s job is to get it to work.

You see what’s happened with Watkins, the way he was in and out of the side and being linked with moves away, but you can now see what patience does, he got the two goals against Brighton.

You can’t knock good players, so if you sign a player, you’ve signed him because you know what he can do, so get him to do it.

He’s obviously a good player, otherwise they wouldn’t have got him in and paid that sort of money.

If he’s going to disrupt the team and upset Emery every week, the best course may be to go out on loan in the summer.

Emery is the manager, he wanted the player, why is he getting so annoyed with him after five or six months?

He needs to get him playing, it might not help to get on his back for one little thing, especially when you’re third in the league.

Aston Villa won’t recoup the £30m spend on Guessand

As it stands, it feels unlikely that the Ivorian is ever going to come good after such a disappointing start, but patience could be the best course of action.

The likes of Youri Tielemans and Leon Bailey have shown that method can be beneficial, but can be difficult to justify at times.

The driving force behind that could be that Guessand’s value has likely plummeted over the past six months, which would sting Villa in the market moving forward.

Emery and Co. can’t afford to make huge losses on players, so backing the former OGC Nice man may be something the Villa Park faithful have to get used to.
